Meet the People Building GyanSanchaar in Guwahati
The founding team brings together business, medical, public-relations and public-administration experience around one education platform.
Behind GyanSanchaar is a small team working from Guwahati on a problem that affects students far beyond the city: how to make college admissions easier to navigate.
Kumar Amitabh is the Founder. The platform is operated by Sanchaar EduTech Private Limited, and Amitabh leads the company from its Guwahati headquarters. The company’s stated aim is to give students one straightforward way to apply to colleges instead of navigating numerous separate portals and, in some cases, relying on local admission agents.
Dr Kausshik Hazaricka is a Co-Founder and leads public relations. An MBBS graduate, he is part of the founding team behind the platform’s work in the education space.
Divakar Sharma is a Co-Founder and serves as Chief Financial Officer. A B.Com graduate, he oversees the company’s finances and its pay-per-successful-admission revenue model.
The team is also supported by Kumar Sanjay Krishna, who serves as a mentor. A retired IAS officer from the 1985 batch and former Chief Secretary of the Government of Assam, he brings experience from public administration to a startup working in education.
Each role brings a different perspective to the project. Business and financial planning, public relations, medical and academic experience, and public-administration knowledge all sit alongside the practical work of building a service for students.
The team’s regional connection is central to the company’s direction. GyanSanchaar is based in Guwahati, covers all eight Northeastern states and currently supports nine Indian languages, including Assamese, Bengali and Nepali.
The platform itself is designed around a simple student journey. A student creates one free profile, uses it to apply to listed colleges and receives application support from the team through WhatsApp up to the admission interview. The admission fee is paid directly to the chosen institution.
The company is also building around a model in which students do not pay for the platform. Colleges pay a fixed referral fee after a referred student is admitted and has paid the college, while the student-facing application service remains free.
GyanSanchaar is a DPIIT-recognised startup under Startup India and is registered as an MSME under Udyam. Its platform is live at gyansanchaar.com.
For the team, the work is ultimately about making a process that can feel confusing and fragmented a little easier for students to navigate — starting from their home base in Guwahati and extending across the Northeast.
